The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is responsible for collecting and managing traffic accident reports from law enforcement agencies across the state. 3. An insurance company that issued a policy covering any person involved in the accident (H)

4. An insurance company that issued an insurance policy covering any vehicle involved in the accident (G)

5. A person who has established financial responsibility for a vehicle involved in the accident in a manner described in Texas Transportation Code 601.501, including a policyholder of a motor vehicle liability insurance policy covering the vehicle (F)

6. The owner of a vehicle or property damaged in the accident (E)

7. An employer, parent, or legal guardian of a driver involved in the accident (D)

8. The authorized representative of any person involved in the accident (B)

These individuals or entities can request crash reports through a written application and payment of the required fee. However, it's essential to note that crash reports are not available for online viewing by the general public due to their confidential nature.

Additionally, drivers who were involved in a crash not investigated by a police officer should retain the CR-2 form provided to them for their records. As of January 1, 2017, the Driver's Crash Report (Form CR-2) is no longer retained by TxDOT per Senate Bill 312.

For years outside the retention period, published annual reports may be available. However, data analysis for these years is unavailable due to the state retention schedule for crash reports and data being 10 years plus the current year.
